«The doors were opening which I felt were closed»

The pedagogical studies are finally over. It definitely is a landmark to reach. Though I liked the general idea of the program, really remarkable courses were just few.

Teacher as a Researcher is one of them. When I first heard that I am to write a Bachelor’s degree length paper during my pedagogical studies I was really opposed to the idea. It seemed that there is too much writing for a person who wanted to get only supplementary 15 credits (but ended up doing all 60 actually). However, it happened to be an enjoyable time from which I personally benefited a lot more in terms of knowledge than from most of the courses I had to take.

The work below is just a short presentation of what the needs of international students studying teacher education in Finland might be. This research was carried out during year 2012-13 at the Department of Teacher Education, University of Helsinki. It is not a published thesis or article but still a research paper and, thus, all rights are reserved. If you have any questions regarding this study — do not hesitate to contact me :)
